Australian Open 2006

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

2006 is definitely the Year of Sports, ladies and gentlemen!! :)  Melbourne is a great place for sporting events such as the Australian Open, Formula One and the Commonwealth Games (let’s go watch badminton?- MALAYSIA BOLEH!). Not to mention its also finally WORLD CUP YEAR! *excited* Anyhoo, recently I had the privilege of watching tennis World #1 Roger Federer in action and it was a top notch match against Germany’s Tommy Haas. The match scheduled before that was pretty good too, with former World #1 and former Australian Open winner Martina Hingis back from "retirement."  Here are some pics from that day:-

  • Dsc00236 It was actually a 5 setter..and if you can make it out, that’s the scoreboard.

Had myself a grand ol’ time :) :) and will try my best to go again next year. Great atmosphere, lively crowd and breathtaking tennis from the Swiss Maestro himself. Drawbacks: long-ass queues@ the toilet and overpriced food and souvenirs.  More info on the Australian Open here.

To Please Or Not to Please

Politics has often been described as the ugliest side of human behaviour (and wars happen as a result of this). There’s office politics, student council politics, even politics amongst friends. Heck, you can even see politicking in action with shows like Survivor. All the bitching, treachery and ignorance only serves to test alliances and loyalty. Inflaming friendships and creating suspicion until a web of convulated crap just sits right there in the middle. Finger-pointing, ratting out and betrayal to push the blame around happens frequently. Flowery cover ups and smooth talking operators beguiling the ignoramuses who are dumb enough to buy it.

However, what REALLY gets my goat is the wilful blindness of people who choose to remain ignorant to cold, hard facts. WAKE UP PEOPLE! ITS NOT KINDERGARDEN ANYMORE! *honk*honk* When you just can’t win, then you just say to yourself ‘heck, at the end of the day you can’t please everyone.’ Whatever it is that I have done, I have followed the conscience in my head so that when I wake up in the morning, I can still say I am proud to be who I am. Yes, mistakes I have made but more importantly I realised them and tried my best to rectify the situation. If you want to lay blame on me so that your close ones are off the hook, then either get your facts straight before you charge me with anything or ask me to my face.

So there.
