Auld Lang Syne
Tuesday, December 27th, 2005Firstly, apologies to all as my PC at home decided to commit a B.S.O.D ie the Blue Screen of Death. ALL MY AUTO SALOON PICS DOWN THE DRAIN!! *@*#(*@& It is through the kindness of Chen that I am able to post this entry tonight.
As we farewell 2005 and usher in 2006, I would like to encourage people to do 2 things:-
1. Laugh more. An old Yiddish proverb says " What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul."
And I am not talking *coyly- covering- mouth- geisha- type laughter* I am talking *big, hearty clutching-at-guts type of laughter.* There’s no time like New Year’s to laugh and be merry! Heck why wait till New Year, start NOW.Obviously not the coolest thing if you’re sitting at StarBucks reading this, and wasn’t it Woody Allen who said he was thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of his nose? Just remember, it soothes the soul AND it makes you look younger. Damn straight, its an unbeatable combo. *winkwink
2. Live now. This means not putting off things that you want to do. The older we get, the only things we may end up regretting are the things we didn’t do. A general idea may entail something as simple as saying sorry, or I love you to someone, or getting in touch with a long lost friend. Or it could be something hardcore like skydiving, backpacking around Europe to opening your own Barbie Doll shop. Whatever tickles your fanny, i mean fancy. I am sure you’ve all seen the glittery wrapping paper and pretty bows but seriously each day is a present. I sure hope I use mine wisely :)
"Each day comes bearing its own gifts. Untie the ribbons." -Ruth Ann Schabacker
NB: Auld Lang Syne is an old Scottish song best translated into Times Gone By. And if I could, I’d take a good toast for old friends and days, like it says in the song. With ALL my friends. Happy New Year y’all!!
